Special Media Release: WELLS RIVER RADIO STATION
WYKR-101.3FM WINS AN AWARD FOR (Wells River, VT.) Radio Station WYKR-101.3fm in Wells River was awarded the 2009 Funniest Station Produced Radio Commercial, during the annual convention of the Vermont Association of Broadcasters (VAB) that was held, Thursday, May 7th., 2009 at the Capitol Plaza in Montpelier, Vermont. The winning entry was titled “Snow Shovels”, promoting a clearance sale on select winter products, including snow shovels, for Fairlee Feed & Saddlery in Fairlee, Vermont. The winning commercial features the comic characters “Mother & Father” whose life’s funny little dilemmas are usually solved within a 60 second radio commercial, with help from Fairlee Feed. The “Snow Shovels” commercial was written by John Ditcheos and Patricia Stebbins, voiced by the Fairlee Feed Staff, and produced at WYKR-101.3fm by Joe Letter and Merl Grabowski. Over 160 entries by members of the VAB were submitted for this competition, and were independently judged by Champlain College. The VAB competition is the only commercial broadcast awards program in Vermont, and is designed to encourage continued excellence in the field of advertising. WYKR-101.3fm’s broadcast area serves Northeast Vermont, Northwest New Hampshire, and the Upper Connecticut River Valley. Since 1976, Puffer Broadcasting, Inc continues to be the family managed owners of Radio Stations WYKR-101.3FM, licensed to Haverhill, New Hampshire, and WTWN-AM 1100, licensed to Wells River, Vermont, with studios and offices located at 1047 US Route 302 in Wells River, Vermont. |
